S/S17 Fashion Trends Straight Off The Runway
Spring is officially 8 days away(Thank God/Buddah for that). Which means two things the weather is going to improve which means so will my mood!Secondly it's time to perk up the wardrobe. Its time to store away the Fur Gillet's, Puffa jackets, Snow-boots, Knitted oversized jumpers and yes i'm going to say it, its time to avert from the colour Black and welcome in again bright, vibrant colours & floral prints back into our lives.
So what are the key trends this Spring/ Summer 17 Season?
S/S17 was a season filled with escapism, activism, subliminal messages and storytelling. Here are the key trends straight from the catwalk from the S/S17 Fashion Week Designer Shows to help you innovate your current wardrobes, maybe purchase a few classic trend items to enhance your style or for general inspiration on whats to come this coming season.

1. Bralettes
I hope you've kept your bralettes from the previous seasons because they are back with the art of layering. Worn over buttoned-up shirts & dresses. Slinky velvet bras were seen at the Victoria Beckham show, Céline offered crotchet knitted bralettes, Giambattisa Valli's had dinky lace bralettes, Miuccia Prada had a fabulous Ostrich feather bralette, Alexander McQueen had studded leathers and Altuzarra had retro cherry prints and frilled bralettes.

The colour Fuschia is a massive trend this S/S17 colour palette. Dictated in the Paris shows and seen on the runway at Topshop, Bottega Veneta, Hermès, Valentino, Balenciaga, Givenchy and Chanel.
3. Mini Bags
You did not misread that, Mini Handbags are in this Season! The Question is where are you supposed to put your phone, keys, purse, make-up and other important items in a handbag the size of a lipstick case? Bring back the Oversized handbags I say! I'm not going to lie this trend is pretty cute though. Seen at the Valentino show worn across the body in over-layering chains. Mini-bags were seen at Hermès, tiny pouches were attached to handbag handle frames at Céline and Louis Vuitton turned its Petite Malle into an Iphone case.

4. Tulle
If your wondering what fabric Tulle is its the material used to make Ballerina Tutus!Tulle is known for being a tricky fabric to trim but it is a key trend this Season. Molly Goddard is known for Tulle and presented it in legitimate Tutus in her S/S17 collection. Dior used Tulle in its logo branding, Dries Van Noten added a dark tulle layer to her floral prints in garments.

5. Deconstructed Shirts
Think different cuts, shapes, sleeves, cuffs and collars. Basically not the norm/basic shirt structure. This trend began in New York. Oversized shirts were seen at Marques' Almeida. Victoria Beckham had one-shouldered shirts in her collection. Jacquemus, Monse, and Alexander Wang also put their unique style and spin on this trend in their S/S17 collections.
6. 80's Revival
The 80's revival is back in full force with the obligatory return of the power shoulders! Yes thats correct the huge shoulder padded blazers that you used to slate your mum for wearing back in the day is now back in trend so before purchasing any shoulder padded items its best to apologise to your Mum first! Big shoulder pads or whalebone rods inserted across the shoulders of coats and jackets. Other 80's revival items seen on the runway included spandex leggings, draped velvet devoré, the sweetheart neckline on mini-dresses, cropped smoking jackets, liquid gold garments, puffball sleeves, Vintage neon surfing sweaters, Princess Diana inspired style and Vintage Dior slogan T-shirts. Seen at Balenciaga, Saint Laurent, Gucci, Isabel Marant, Dior and Alexander Wang.
7. Kitten Heels
Before I begin the overview of this S/S17 Trend I would like to state that you will never EVER find me purchasing or wearing a pair of Kitten Heels in my life because lets face it Kitten Heels are tragic! However this footwear style is trending big time in the French street style scene and everyone knows that Parisians especially have exquisite taste in Fashion. From classic sling backs to pointed pumps with a kitten heel seen at Prada, Céline, Chanel and Loewe.
8. Modern Ruffles
Ruffles were seen everywhere on the runway this season presented in unusual fabrication. Seen at Alexander McQueen in black leather embroidered and printed Scottish Roses. Frayed and Linen Ruffles were seen at Erdem. Preen's were punk styled and sequined. Jacquemus, Dries Van Noten and 3:1 Phillip Lim ruffles were tiny with a Victorian overtone.
9. Waist Belts
The statement, oversized waist belt is back in nipping you in at the waist to create that womanly hourglass silhouette. Enhancing your curves in all the right places!A more innovative style of waist belts was also introduced this season in the style of a waist corset clinched at the waist worn over dresses, jackets/coats, oversized shirts and skirts. Seen at Balenciaga, Alberta Ferretti, Balmain, Hermés and Burberry.
10. Pretty Punk
Think floral prints toughened up with Flatforms, Bovver boots, a buzzcut and spikes seen at Balenciaga, Alexander McQueen, Coach and Preen.

This boudoir trend includes,Funky prints, Pinstripes, slinky silk robes, lace co-ord set pjs seen at Burberry, Lanvin, Vionnet and Ashley Williams.
