In some bittersweet news, genre-bending singer-songwriter Solomon officially announces the end of his completely underrated yet impressive music career by treating his devoted following with his final music video in support of the heartbreaking ballad "
Crash Into You" featuring Baron, taken off his
Le Garcon EP released earlier this year.
"
Crash Into You", hands down the artist's best effort to date, is a personal, beautiful mid-tempo pop statement where Solomon seems to be trying to move on with his life following the deterioration of his long-term relationship. "
I eat at all the places we love, pretending you'd show up, I tell the waiter you're running late, table for one is too hard to say," featured guest Baron sings on a duet that deserves to be heard.
For the accompanying visual, which serves as a somewhat sequel to "
The Way We Were", Solomon is seen in a tragic, defeated drug induced state of mind as he experiences flashbacks to the perfect moments with his former flame before everything started to fall apart. The five-minute video is equally depressing and hopeful as viewers get to take a deeper look into the complex love life of the artist before witnessing his death in the end.
While the love torn story line will resonate with practically anyone who gives it a view, it's the visual's sharpness and sophisticated look that warrant its recent premiere. Solomon has never released a predictable music video to accompany his lyrics and beats, instead he goes out of the way to create an artsy experience that contains more meaning as layers are slowly pulled back. For his last release under the Solomon name, "
Crash Into You" is a sad and vulnerable, but well-executed send off for the talented performance artist.
