Beyoncé caused controversy in her appearance at the Golden Globe 2020. The singer eventually lost the award for best original song, which competed for "Spirit" (soundtrack of The Lion King), but it was for another moment of the ceremony that she ended being criticized on the web.
When Joaquin Phoenix was announced as the winner of Joker's Best Actor in a Dramatic Statuette, all of his colleagues in the audience immediately rose to cheer - that is, everyone but Beyoncé.
“She should have stood up in respect of him,” wrote a Twitter user. "That was pretty rude, to be honest," defined another. “It was very bad taste,” added one more.
There were also people defending Beyoncé and trying to understand why the singer didn't get up. “Let's not make a mess about it… She probably didn't get up because she would be on his way to the stage. She smiled and cheered, ”wrote one fan.
“Just one possibility: Maybe Beyoncé didn't get up because her dress was huge and it would have been hard to get up and then sit back down. Maybe it wasn't an opinion about Joaquin Phoenix, ”another speculated.
